Matthew Gagne, Principal Renewable Energy Consultant at Wood PLC, brings extensive experience in the integration of advanced geospatial technologies for clean energy siting. On the panel, Matthew will offer insights into how advanced geospatial data and analysis can be effectively used from early screening to project development for clean energy facilities.
Too often projects are developed without thorough geospatial analysis. As a result, projects see delays, increased costs, or even failure of development. Drawing from his extensive experience and citing specific project examples, Matthew will discuss the importance of advanced geospatial analysis and the significance of using high quality data from sources such as satellite imagery and lidar imagery/surface/terrain data.
The presentation will highlight strategies to leverage GIS in project siting in to mitigate risks, lower project development costs, and optimize clean energy performance. Matthew will use case studies of projects that did and did not integrate advanced geospatial analysis or high-quality data in project siting to demonstrate the power and importance of using GIS and advanced data gathering technologies into siting workflows.
Additionally, Matthew will address future needs and potential advancements in these technologies to further support the clean energy sector.
