Presentation Description: The R Street Institute recently conducted quantitative research on opposition to clean energy infrastructure on the state and local level. We found a growth in ideological based opposition to permitting wind and solar projects, centered around a phenomenon we dub "not in my neighbor's back yard" where opposition is most concentrated among people less involved in the project. We also conducted interviews with a dozen practitioners and groups involved in clean energy projects to find out the sources of opposition to new projects.
